Cover Girl Culture: Awakening the Media Generation is a feature length documentary film. From posing in pages of magazines to exposing magazines comes documentary filmmaker Nicole Clark. A former Elite International fashion model turned champion for young girls and their self-esteem, Nicole gets in the face of the media and advertisers calling for responsible media for our youth!
Cover Girl Culture explores how the worlds of fashion, modeling, advertising and celebrity impact teens and young women.
We will look at:
• Who sets today's standards for beauty
• How are these standards affecting individuals and society
• Who is responsible and are there ways this can be changed?
• Who will change it?
Special Guests:
NICOLE CLARK: Director
A former Elite International Model, chose to make this documentary to help bring about positive change in the media and our youth's lives. Through her world travels via the modeling industry she gained valuable insights into the inner workings of the fashion & advertising worlds that she was finally able to share with girls and women around the globe through her new documentary.
ALLY SHEEDY: Assoc. Producer of Cover Girl Culture/Award-winning Actress
Ally Sheedy first received acclaim for her children’s book “She Was Nice to Mice” which she wrote at age 15. She is best known for her roles in WarGames, The Breakfast Club and Twice in a Lifetime and St. Elmo’s Fire, along with numerous television appearances. Regarding her role as associate producer on Cover Girl Culture: 'I met Nicole when we were both at the Women's International Film Festival. I am thrilled with her work on this documentary and came on board as an associate producer. I am also working on her next documentary, 'Taking Me out of Media'.
MISTY TRIPOLI: Misty is a Nike Elite Instructor and one of the worlds most innovative and engaging fitness instructors, dance choreographers and personal trainers. After studying dance at the University of Utah, Misty brought her love of dance and her innovative approach to fitness to Los Angeles where she currently runs her own consulting company offering professional choreography, instructor training, master classes and curriculum development. All of her workouts fuse a passion for dance, creative movement, meditation, positive energy and pure self expression. Students experience an exhilarating workout while learning to celebrate and embrace their bodies fully connecting mind body and spirit.
CATHERINE HAMMONS, ALSP: As Program Coordinator for the Agape Youth and Family Ministry as well as an actress and writer, Professor Vox Dei brings her love of art to the Agape youth in the form of theater games, art projects, dancing with abandon and lots of laughs. She can soon be seen on Showtime’s ‘Ronna and Beverly.’
